National Rebuilding Day was started by Chicago-area nonprofit Rebuilding Together in an effort to safely improve and repair at-risk local homes. For their annual event (the last Saturday in April), Rebuilding Together “recruits and trains sponsor teams, identifies and screens homeowner applicants, raises private funds for building materials, and coordinates the logistics of a volunteer effort that encompasses over 1,500 people”.
Since then, it’s become a fantastic opportunity for commercial painters, general contractors, builders, and anyone handy with a hammer to give back to their community and support their neighbors in need.
We’re Proud of Our Community Partners
In the spirit of this wonderful day, we’re highlighting the nonprofits we partner with:
The Branch of Nashville provides numerous support services for Nashville residents facing poverty and food insecurity to help them grow and thrive in their communities.
Turner Workforce Development is part of Turner Constructions commitment to building the future of our community by providing life-changing opportunities in the construction industry.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!” Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides single and bunk beds for kids in need.
Nashville Humane Association aids sick, homeless, and at-risk shelter pets in Nashville, throughout Middle Tennessee, and anywhere a pet needs help.
Cheatham County Animal Control aspires to not only provide refuge for homeless animals, but to physically and emotionally rehabilitate them, and find them loving homes.
The nonprofits we work with reflect our passions and our commitment to the community. Our president, Tiffany Wondrow, is also the president of the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), where she’s been an active member since 2019.
C&R Services supported NAWIC Nashville in their work with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. They collected 60 bedding sets, delivered 7 beds, and supplied materials for 80+ more. NAWIC also supported a job fair at The Branch of Nashville, where dozens of attendees got to learn about exciting career opportunities for women in trades and construction. Tiffany also spoke on these issues with the latest Turner Workforce Development cohort. C&R Services later hired one of their graduates.
And of course, the C&R Services team loves our furry friends! We organized a recent volunteer day for our employees to paint door frames and walls for the Cheatham County Animal Control. We also attended CRE615’s annual volunteer event for the Nashville Humane Association where we did exterior landscaping renovations, cleaned interior kennels, and enjoyed walking several different shelter pups.
Working Together for Stronger Communities
We’re proud that our commercial painting and facility services teams never lose sight of what matters most. We look forward to continued collaboration with people and organizations committing to making Nashville and Middle Tennessee safe, welcoming, and fulfilling for all our neighbors.
